Erin Hennegar
Erin is currently a Partner with the law firm of Bringewatt Wolter & Snover, PLLC. She has worked as
Senior Counsel in the Real Estate department of Mayer Brown LLC; Assistant General Counsel in the
Global Corporate Investment Banking and Commercial Real Estate divisions of Bank of America
Corporation; and Counsel in the Specialized Finance department of Kennedy Covington LLP (now K&L
Gates LLP).
Erin earned a B.S. in mathematics, magna cum laude, from Davidson College, graduating 4 th in her class
and 1 st in her major. She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and the recipient of both the William G.
McGavock Mathematics and the William D. Vinson Mathematics Awards. She was a two-time Academic
All-American field hockey player, and was inducted into the Davidson College Athletics Hall of Fame in
2009.
Erin earned a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where she was a Moot Court
Quarterfinalist, and served as Treasurer on the Moot Court Board. She was also a Commissioner of the
North Grounds Softball League.
Erin served on the Board of Trustees of Davidson Day School for ten years, including as Corporate
Secretary. She coached several youth sports and academic teams, and is a member of the North
Carolina Bar, the Mecklenburg County Bar, and the North Carolina Bar Association.
Erin and her husband divide their time between Davidson, NC and Bend, OR. They have two adult sons,
both of whom participated in multiple AFAR archaeological site projects, Maya at the Playa conferences,
and Maya at the Lago conferences. One co-published a field journal through AFAR; the other joined an
international presentation in Finland with AFAR.
Erin has served on AFAR’s Board of Directors since 2019. She primarily supports AFAR through legal
guidance, business contracting and development. Erin has seen, first-hand, the unique opportunities
that AFAR provides, and the lifelong impacts that Mat Saunders and AFAR have on students. She has
also witnessed the partnerships and advancements that AFAR fosters beyond such students, including as
a catalyst in archaeological academia, and improving the local communities that surround AFAR’s
archaeological sites.
