Maia Dedrick is a postdoctoral associate at the Cornell Institute of Archaeology & Material Studies. She received her PhD in Anthropology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2019. Her dissertation research addressed how the livelihoods and foodways of common Maya farmers changed throughout the Colonial period at the site of Tahcabo, Yucatán, Mexico. This work consistently involved community outreach and collaboration, facilitated by her participation in the Proyecto Arqueológico Colaborativo del Oriente de Yucatán (PACOY), co-directed by Patricia A. McAnany (UNC-Chapel Hill) and Adolfo Iván Batún Alpuche (Universidad de Oriente).
